Screw conveyors for flake ice are often used to distribute the ice from a centralized flake ice machine to the different places in the production facilities. BEMA has experience to deliver screw conveyors and intermediate bins in order to fulfill demand of flake ice on the destination point.
Flake ice has low friction against the stainless‑steel housing, making it easy to move through tubular conveyors. This allows the use of high screw speeds up to approx. 100 RPM, ensuring efficient and stable transport without damaging the ice.
Screw conveyors offer low power consumption, gentle handling of the ice, and significantly less wear compared to blower systems. A well‑designed tube conveyor can operate for decades, with only occasional bearing replacement.
Tube conveyors can be built up to 15 meters in total length and may include intermediate bearings to support the screw rotor. They are typically delivered in modular sections for easy on‑site installation and adaptation to the production layout.
All welding must be 100% tight, as flake ice is considered a food‑grade medium. BEMA also designs custom gate valves and intermediate bins to distribute ice from a central flake‑ice machine to multiple production points, ensuring reliable and hygienic operation.
