Screw conveyors for food products used in protein production, manufactured for a production facility.
All screw conveyors are manufactured in accordance with EC 1935/2004 – the Food Contact Materials Regulation.
By nature, it is impossible to design screw conveyors completely free of so-called “dead zones” where material can accumulate. Therefore, it is essential that screw conveyors are designed with easy accessibility for cleaning.
With its in-house engineering department, BEMA has qualified technicians capable of designing screw conveyors for food applications in close cooperation with customers. It is important that surface requirements are clarified during the design phase to avoid unnecessary surface treatments that would increase costs without adding value.
BEMA recommends being involved as early as possible in the design phase, so that all requirements for screw conveyors in food applications can be precisely defined from the beginning.
All materials must be approved for food contact and comply with EC 1935/2004. In addition, the manufacturer must be approved by the food authority for handling materials used in food production.
Welds must be smooth and are often ground to a defined surface roughness. The machine must be easy to access for cleaning, and the design must ensure that cleaning water can drain away without accumulating.
BEMA is responsible for design in collaboration with the customer, clarification of requirements, manufacturing in its own workshop, assembly, FAT testing and shipping.
Early involvement ensures that surface requirements and hygiene standards are defined correctly from the beginning, avoiding unnecessary processes and additional costs.
