Shredder screw conveyor for insulation plates manufactured to degrade insulation plates inside an insulation factory plant.
The shredder screw conveyor has to go with a relatively small speed on the screw rotor – app. 20-25 RPM. The knives have to be able to cut down the material. The speed can be adjusted by using a frequency inverter on the electrical motor. A shredder screw conveyor can be an efficient solution if you want to create a system where you break down material into smaller pieces. The shredder screw conveyor can be used as the first step to start the degrading process. The shredder screw covneyor can be combined with a conventional shredder in the outlet to degrade the material further. See an example of a BEMA shredder here See an example of a larger shredder here Shredder screw conveyor are applied as machine for recycling.
It is not possible to predict the material size after treatment in a shredder screw conveyor. The final result can be obtained after finally fintuning the speed of the screw rotor.
A shredder screw conveyor is designed to combine material transport and controlled degradation in one continuous process. It is particularly useful in insulation production and recycling environments where materials must be reduced in size before further handling. The system ensures stable feeding, consistent breakdown and efficient integration into downstream equipment.
Material enters a slowly rotating screw running at approximately 20–25 RPM. As the screw moves the material forward, built‑in knives cut it into smaller lumps suitable for further treatment. The rotational speed is controlled via a frequency inverter, allowing precise adjustment of the shredding intensity and ensuring a smooth, predictable flow through the system.
The conveyor is ideal for insulation plates, lightweight stones and other porous materials that easily break when meeting a knife. Because material structure varies, the final particle size cannot be predicted in advance. Instead, operators fine‑tune the rotor speed to achieve the desired result.
This solution is often used as the first step in a degrading or recycling line. It prepares material for subsequent processing and can be paired with a conventional shredder at the outlet to achieve finer fragmentation when needed. It is widely applied in insulation factories and recycling systems.
A sufficiently large screw diameter ensures that incoming material can be handled without blockages. A longer screw increases the number of knives and improves shredding efficiency. Adjustable speed control allows optimization for different material types and capacity requirements.
