A Shaftless screw conveyor features a helical screw (spiral) without an internal shaft or pipe. It is commonly used to transport bulk materials that are sticky, viscous or otherwise difficult to move with a traditional screw conveyor, where the central shaft or pipe would be a disadvantage. A shaftless screw can operate in both directions, either as a push screw or a pull screw, depending solely on the transmission station and gearmotor configuration.
Shaftless screw augers are widely used in various industries, including wastewater treatment, food processing, chemical industries, and solid waste management. They are ideal for transporting materials such as sludge, food waste, screenings, powder, and other difficult-to-handle substances.
Non-Clogging: The absence of a central shaft eliminates the risk of clogging, making it suitable for materials that tend to stick or tangle.
Maintenance: Reduced maintenance requirements due to fewer moving parts and the absence of intermediate bearings.
Efficiency: Capable of handling materials with varying particle sizes and high moisture content. Additionally, the flexibility of a shaftless screw allows for longer designs, as they typically rest on a liner at the bottom of a trough or pipe.
BEMA manufactures a wide range of shaftless screw rotors and augers in various sizes and designs, including single and double spirals.
