Key points of the design of the defrosting screw conveyors

1. The trough acts like a tank and are filled with water
2. The frozen fish will defrost during the transporation from the inlet to the outlet
3. The tank has 2 purposes:
   1. Thawing of frozen fish
   2. Ensuring the fish to have a specified retention time during the transport
4. The screw flights of the defrosting screw conveyor are manufactured with screw flight with holes for water to pass through
5. The screw flights are manufactured like a meccano system. The screw flights are bended in a conventional bending machine. In this case there is no need for it to be smooth

Due to handling fish which is a food ingredient the defrosting screw conveyors are manufactured in accordane with EC-1935/2004 – “the food directive”

The screw conveyor for defrosting fish is acting as a process machine.

Description of the process features

1. The defrosting screw conveyor is transporting the fish from an inlet point to another point in the manufacturing process
2. During the transport the fish is defrosted

The only unknown is the retention time, which can be controlled by using a frequency inverter together with the electrical motor.
