Flake ice conveyors for rake system delivered for a plant delivering ice to fishing boats.
The screw conveyors are delivered without intermediate bearings. BEMA always recommend to avoid the use of intermediate bearings. In this case it is possible due to the length of the screw conveyors. But with application with flake ice, intermediate bearings can be used with a good results as long as they are greased on regular time intervals.
BEMA has experiance to deliver screw conveyors and live screw bottoms for all the above examples.
In general BEMA focus to deliver screw conveyors with supports and legs to ease the installation on the customer site. Our products are customer designed and differs from standard products that often require a lot of adoptation on-site. We know that customer designed products are more expensive, but we are very sure that the total cost is lower, when you are able to deliver products that easily fits on-site. Installation costs are often under estimated, and we strongly recommend that you evaluate the total cost of the products and the installation during the evaluation phase of your project.
Flake ice conveyors are designed to transport flake ice from an ice rake system to various destinations, such as fishing boats or internal distribution points in fish‑processing facilities. They ensure gentle, reliable handling of ice without clogging or melting issues.
A typical setup includes a collecting screw conveyor that receives ice from the rake, along with angled tube conveyors—often around 45°—that lift the ice to the required height. The collecting conveyor can be reversible, allowing flexible distribution depending on operational needs.
All conveyors are designed according to EC‑1935/2004 hygiene standards, with inlets and outlets shaped to prevent ice blockage. Each conveyor includes drain points to manage meltwater, and support points are integrated to simplify installation on‑site.
BEMA focuses on delivering customer‑specific solutions that fit seamlessly into existing installations. Although custom equipment may cost more upfront, it significantly reduces installation time and total project cost by eliminating on‑site adaptations.
