What is the principle of a screw press auger?

• The press process is performed in the screw auger where the volume between the screw flights are reduced in the transport direction
• In the actual case the pitch of the screw flights are reduced in the transport direction
• The outlet is reduced to create a back pressure to the media – typical by using a coned outlet
• A perforated plate is used in the outlet zone where the water can drain out

The dewatering screw press conveyor is a mechanical machine and the press process is completely mechanical.

Advantages of using a mechanical press process

1. The machine is plain and easy to maintain
2. The screw rotor runs at low speed and the power consumption is low compared to other process machines for separating
3. It is realtively easy to modify the different key components to optimize the press process

1. The press process is hard to predict in advance. It strongly depends on the material
2. Adjustments must be expected when you start to work with dewatering press screw conveyors
3. Adjustments are typically:
   1. Changing the size of the conical outlet
   2. Changing the holes in the perforated plate
   3. Changing the screw screw rotor with another pitch of the screw flights

When you obtain an acceptable result, you will have a very easy process which require low maintenance over time.
